Description
Now is the time to join PDS Health. You will have opportunities to learn new skills from our team of experienced professionals. If you're ready to take your career to the next level and gain valuable experience, apply today!
Overview
The Workday Solution Architect is responsible for translating functional requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable Workday solutions across Core HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation (including Advanced Compensation). This role operates at the intersection of functional design and technical execution, partnering with functional SMEs to convert business requirements into well-structured Workday configurations, including business processes, calculated fields, reporting, and security models. The role emphasizes disciplined use of Workday's native capabilities, ensuring solutions are aligned with platform constraints and long-term maintainability.
This position owns the design and integrity of Workday configurations and integrations, establishing standards for how business processes, reporting frameworks, and data flows are implemented within the platform. The architect is responsible for defining when to leverage configuration versus integration or API-based solutions, and for ensuring consistent use of tools such as EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, and Workday APIs (SOAP and REST). This includes applying appropriate data transformation techniques (XSLT) and authentication mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, SAML) to support secure and scalable integrations.
Serving as the primary technical authority for Workday solution design, this role drives architectural consistency across modules and integrations, reviews and refines designs produced by other team members or partners, and ensures that all implementations adhere to established standards for performance, security, and extensibility. The role requires deep, hands-on expertise in Workday configuration, reporting, and integration frameworks, with the ability to translate complex requirements into efficient and sustainable system designs.
Responsibilities
  • Translate functional requirements into Workday solutions, including business process (BP) configuration, condition rules, calculated fields, and reporting.
  • Design, build, and optimize advanced custom reports and dashboards.
  • Configure and maintain Workday business processes across HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation domains.
  • Design and implement Workday security models, including security groups and domain policies.
  • Develop and maintain integrations using EIB, Core Connectors (CCW/CCB), Workday Studio, and Workday APIs (SOAP and REST).
  • Design and implement API-based integrations, including authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, SAML).
  • Apply XSLT transformations to support inbound and outbound integrations.
  • Validate and refine functional requirements to ensure alignment with Workday capabilities and constraints.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex configuration, reporting, and integration issues.
  • Perform impact analysis and validation for Workday bi-annual releases.
  • Define and enforce design standards across reporting, business processes, and integrations.

Required
  • 7+ years of Workday experience with deep hands-on expertise translating functional requirements into Workday solutions across Core HCM, Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing and operating an architecture governance model across multiple technology platforms or organizational teams - including review processes, decision records, and standards enforcement.
  • Proven experience designing end-to-end integration solutions using API-led, event-driven, or middleware-brokered patterns across two or more major enterprise platforms.

Preferred
  • Hands-on experience with two or more major enterprise platforms in PDS Health's portfolio: Epic, Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow, MuleSoft, Snowflake, or AWS.
  • Experience designing or governing event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka, AWS MSK, or equivalent streaming platforms.
  • Experience with cloud-native patterns on AWS or equivalent - including containerization, serverless, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipeline design.
  • Experience in healthcare, dental, or a similarly regulated enterprise environment with awareness of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and HITRUST CSF requirements.
  • Familiarity with AI-augmented architecture patterns - including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, agentic workflows, or large language model (LLM) integration - in enterprise or production contexts.
  • Relevant architecture certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect, or equivalent.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Deep understanding of Workday data model, object relationships, and configuration dependencies.
  • Ability to design scalable business process frameworks using condition rules and calculated fields.
  • Advanced reporting and data modeling expertise within Workday.
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns, including when to use EIB vs Core Connectors vs Studio vs APIs.
  • Proficiency in XML and XSLT for complex data transformation.
  • Strong understanding of Workday API frameworks (SOAP and REST).
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols, including OAuth 2.0 and SAML, in the context of Workday integrations.
  • Experience with Workday Prism Analytics and matrix/composite reporting.
  • Familiarity with Workday Extend and Orchestrate.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • 401K
