Lead Electrical Engineer - Industrial Engineering - Base Salary to 140k/year - Verona, WI

  • Our client, an engineering and design organization serving technically complex industrial environments, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to design and deliver electrical systems for R&D and manufacturing facilities, equipment, and control systems. This role offers the opportunity to lead electrical engineering efforts on challenging industrial projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from concept and detailed design through construction, startup, and commissioning.
  • The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring client electrical requirements are met through effective electrical design, power and control system engineering, construction support, and system startup. Success in this role requires balancing project scope, budget, schedule, and technical requirements while providing technical leadership and collaborating with clients, suppliers, project managers, engineers, designers, and manufacturing personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical design and execution of industrial facility, manufacturing, equipment, and control system projects.
  • Develop electrical engineering designs that meet project scope, budget, schedule, technical, and client requirements.
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and develop power distribution and control system designs.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers, electrical designers, project managers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support during equipment installation, system startup, and commissioning.
  • Review electrical designs for compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable NFPA codes, electrical codes, and industry standards.
  • Support multiple projects while maintaining quality, accuracy, technical requirements, and schedule commitments.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and client deliverables.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience designing industrial electrical systems within a consulting engineering firm or Design/Build electrical contractor.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least five of the following areas: power systems, AC drives, lighting systems, gas detection systems, fire alarm systems, lighting controls, and lightning protection systems.
  • Experience performing engineering calculations for power distribution and control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable NFPA codes.
  • Proficiency with Revit, SKM Power Tools, and lighting calculation software.
  • Understanding of equipment installation, startup, and commissioning processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while adapting to changing priorities, schedules, and project scope.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites, including overnight travel, for design meetings, installation support, and commissioning activities.

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 100k - 140k/year range.
