Key responsibilities

  • Support and manage environmental assessment and remediation projects locally and nationally, both in the field and in the office

  • Assist with site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and technical reporting

  • Participate in field activities including site inspections, sampling events, and remediation oversight

Job description

At Hart & Hickman, we're looking for a Junior Environmental Professional who's ready to take their early career to the next level. With 24 years of experience under your belt, you've gotten a taste of environmental consulting and you're hungry for more - more responsibility, more technical challenge, and a firm that's genuinely invested in where you're headed. At H&H, junior staff aren't treated as a number - they're treated as the next generation of leaders at the firm.

What You'll Do

  • Support and manage environmental assessment and remediation projects locally and nationally, both in the field and in the office
  • Assist with site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and technical reporting
  • Work alongside project managers and senior consultants on Phase I/II ESAs, vapor intrusion assessments, and NC Brownfields projects
  • Learn to navigate state and federal environmental regulatory programs in North and South Carolina
  • Participate in field activities including site inspections, sampling events, and remediation oversight - expect to spend meaningful time outdoors and on-site
  • Collaborate with and learn from a team of experienced environmental professionals

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • 24 years of environmental consulting experience with demonstrated field and technical experience
  • Familiarity with environmental site assessment and sampling protocols.  Experience with regulatory programs in the Carolinas is a plus
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Someone who's curious, takes initiative, and wants to grow into a well-rounded consultant and leadership role over time
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including in outdoor and field conditions

Why H&H?

  • Direct mentorship from experienced consultants and access to company leadership from day one
  • Hands-on exposure to diverse, technically challenging projects across the Carolinas and beyond
  • A clear path forward - we promote based on contribution, and our senior and mid-level staff started exactly where you are
  • A collaborative culture that values curiosity, initiative, and the people behind the work
  • Competitive compensation, performance-based bonuses, and comprehensive benefits

If you're looking for a place to learn from people who genuinely want to see you succeed, take on real responsibility early, and build a career that lasts we'd love to connect.
