Job description

Job Title: Fingerprint Technician

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.50 per hour


Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Fingerprint Technician to perform electronic fingerprinting services in accordance with State of Maryland and FBI regulations. This is an entry-level, customer-facing role with full training provided. The technician will be responsible for fingerprinting clients, verifying identification, managing appointments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the secure handling of sensitive data.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform electronic fingerprinting for employment, licensing, and background check purposes.
  • Greet clients in person and by phone; respond to inquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Verify customer identity and input information accurately into database systems.
  • Manage appointments using scheduling software, including creating, rescheduling, and canceling.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and assist customers with transactions.
  • Ensure all documents are scanned and stored securely and correctly.
  • Adhere to all company and legal policies regarding security, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order at fingerprinting stations and in shared workspaces.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspections and light maintenance on fingerprinting equipment; report technical issues promptly.
  • Monitor and restock fingerprinting materials such as gloves, wipes, and sanitizer to ensure continuous operation.
  • Provide clear instructions to clients to ensure high-quality scans and minimize resubmissions.
  • Accurately maintain records and prepare documentation for internal use and compliance audits.
  • Follow strict confidentiality and data protection protocols, including HIPAA and CJIS guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot minor technical and customer service issues and escalate as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing professional training and stay updated on industry standards and software updates.
  • Act as a brand representative, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor with all clients.

Work Locations:

Technicians must be available to work across all four Maryland office locations:

  • Rockville: 7361 Calhoun Pl, Rockville, MD 20855
  • Bethesda: 6701 Democracy Blvd, Bethesda, MD 20817
  • Silver Spring: 12501 Prosperity Dr, Silver Spring, MD 20904
  • Germantown: 12800 Middlebrook Rd, Germantown, MD 20874

Schedule & Availability:

  • Minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Minimum 4 days per week
  • Required: 2 Saturdays per month (9:00 AM โ€“ 1:00 PM)
  • Preferred: 1 Sunday per month (not required)
  • Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and occasional on-call shifts
  • Must have reliable transportation to commute between all office locations

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with computers; strong typing and data entry skills required
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred but not required
  • Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply (not mandatory)
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must be willing to complete State of Maryland fingerprinting technician training
