Job description


General Role
Provide technical support in the development and production of military soft goods such as upholstery, cushions and parachutes.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of aircraft and military vehicle seating upholstery and cushions
  • Train Production department leads in the operation of these industrial sewing machines: Binding machine, Serger, Walking Foot, Double Needle, Class 7 and Zig Zag
  • Establish time standards
  • Develop flat patterns and templates for soft goods
  • Work with quality to resolve production issues and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings as they pertain to sewing
  • Develop processes for cutting and bonding non-rigid polyurethane foams
  • Program fabric cutters and sewing machines

Required Skills and Education
Required Skills
  • 2+ years of manufacturing expierence
  • Sewing knowledge
  • Military standards for sewing materials
  • Manufacturing using contact adhesives
  • Programming lasers and CNC fabric cutters using CAD software (i.e. Creo, PTC, AutoCAD)
  • Experience building and maintaining tooling
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and adjust machine parameters
  • Experience setting up and operating industrial sewing machines
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints / engineering drawings
