Job description

CTG is seeking to fill a Wireless Network Engineer - RF / Wi-Fi Site Survey Engineer position for our client.
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 11 months
Duties:
  • Conduct onsite wireless validation and re-design surveys across a large, approximately 450,000 sq. ft. enterprise office campus.
  • Perform hands-on RF data collection, wireless validation, and spectrum analysis to support access point optimization recommendations.
  • Execute wireless site surveys using Ekahau Site Survey software or equivalent RF site survey tools.
  • Perform RF measurements and evaluate wireless network performance against established best-practice thresholds, including signal strength of ≥ -67 dBm and SNR of ≥ 20 dB.
  • Conduct Layer 1 spectrum analysis across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands.
  • Identify and document 802.11 and non-802.11 sources of interference, including devices such as microwaves.
  • Analyze wireless heat maps and RF survey data to identify coverage, capacity, and interference issues.
  • Translate RF findings into actionable recommendations for access point placement, channel utilization, coverage, and overall wireless network optimization.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and client-ready wireless survey documentation and reports.
  • Work independently onsite in a large commercial office environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with Ekahau Site Survey or equivalent wireless RF site survey tools.
  • Strong knowledge of 802.11 wireless standards and RF fundamentals.
  • Understanding of signal strength, SNR, channel utilization, RF propagation, and spectrum interference.
  • Experience performing spectrum analysis across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands.
  • Ability to interpret wireless heat maps and RF survey results.
  • Knowledge of enterprise Wi-Fi hardware and wireless access point deployment practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in an onsite, field-based environment.

Experience:
  • Experience conducting enterprise wireless site surveys, RF validation, and wireless network assessments.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing RF data in large commercial or enterprise environments.
  • Experience identifying 802.11 and non-802.11 interference sources and recommending remediation strategies.
  • Experience developing client-ready wireless survey reports and network optimization recommendations.
  • Experience with enterprise wireless infrastructure and access point deployment is highly desirable.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent education and hands-on wireless networking experience may be considered.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $104,000 to $135,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
