Job Title: Renewable Energy Technician (Solar) - Level 1 & 2

Location: Onsite, Sterling, Ohio, 43143

Employment Type: Temporary to Hire

Pay Rate Level 1 & 2: $22.69 - $37.80 per hour (Based on experience and qualifications)


Position Overview

We are seeking motivated Renewable Energy Technicians to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and energy storage assets. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in renewable energy, electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance environments who are looking to build a long-term career in the clean energy industry.


Key Responsibilities

Field Operations (80%)

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on utility-scale solar PV systems and energy storage equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, and related system components.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, retrofits, commissioning, and system improvements.
  • Conduct testing and collect operational data to support system performance and reliability.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, meters, and testing equipment to identify faults and perform repairs.
  • Complete Job Safety Assessments (JSAs), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and other required safety processes.
  • Identify, report, and help mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and work outside standard business hours when required.
  • Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in a safe and professional manner.


Administrative Responsibilities (15%)

  • Complete work orders, maintenance reports, inspection records, and timekeeping documentation.
  • Assist with inventory management, parts tracking, and supply requests.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and operational records.


Additional Responsibilities (5%)

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 0-4 years of experience in renewable energy, solar operations and maintenance, electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with digital maintenance systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting principles.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience using multimeters and diagnostic equipment.
  • Understanding of high-voltage systems and safe work practices.
  • Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout procedures and electrical safety standards.


Preferred Certifications

Work Environment

  • Primarily onsite at utility-scale solar and energy storage facilities.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Overtime, weekends, and on-call work may be required based on operational needs.
