Job description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to support the design and development of utility-scale solar projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with solar PV systems, structural and electrical design, and will collaborate closely with project management, construction, and procurement teams to deliver efficient, safe, and code-compliant solar installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design utility-scale solar PV systems, including layout, structural, electrical, and civil components.
  • Create and review 2D and 3D models using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Helioscope, PVsyst, or similar).
  • Perform system performance calculations, energy yield analysis, and shading studies.
  • Develop and review structural designs for solar racking, foundations, and mounting systems.
  • Collaborate with EPC teams to ensure designs are constructible, cost-effective, and compliant with local codes and regulations.
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for permitting, procurement, and construction.
  • Conduct design reviews and coordinate with utilities, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
  • Identify design risks and propose mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in solar design or utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD and PV system design software.
  • Knowledge of structural, electrical, and civil aspects of PV systems.
  • Familiarity with NEC, UL standards, and local permitting requirements.
