Electrical Engineer - Switchgear / Switchboard ManufacturingAbout the Opportunity

One of our clients specializes in the design, manufacture, and distribution of custom electrical equipment tailored to customer-specific applications and requirements.

Products include:

  • Panelboards up to 2000A

  • Service & Distribution Switchboards up to 8000A

  • Generator Connection Boxes

  • Generator Output Switchboards

  • Single & Double-Ended Substations


Position Summary

One of our clients is seeking an Electrical Engineer with direct switchgear or switchboard manufacturing experience.

This role is responsible for the design, development, and production support of:

  • Low-voltage switchboards (UL 891)

  • Panelboards (UL 67)

  • Control panels (UL 508A)

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience creating:

  • Panel layouts

  • Wiring diagrams

  • Electrical schematics

used directly in a manufacturing environment.

Candidates without direct switchgear/switchboard manufacturing experience will not be considered.

Full-time | Exempt | On-site


Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop low-voltage switchgear and switchboards using AutoCAD Electrical

  • Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control diagrams

  • Perform:

    • Breaker coordination

    • Load calculations

    • kAIC analysis

  • Support busbar sizing, layout, and thermal considerations

  • Troubleshoot wiring, layout, and component issues during production

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • UL 891

    • UL 67

    • UL 508A

    • NEC standards

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly, and engineering teams


Required Qualifications
  • Direct experience working for a switchgear or switchboard manufacturing company

  • Experience designing equipment in a production manufacturing environment

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical

  • Experience creating:

    • Wiring diagrams

    • Panel layouts

  • Working knowledge of:

    • UL standards

    • NEC codes

  • Experience supporting shop floor / production troubleshooting


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with:

    • CNC equipment

    • Industrial machinery

    • Automation systems

  • Familiarity with busbar design and power distribution systems

  • Knowledge of:

    • PLC & HMI systems

    • PLC Ladder Logic programming

  • Experience with manufacturers such as:

    • Eaton

    • Schneider Electric

    • Siemens

    • ABB

    • Powell


Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
