AXIS ENGINEERING- Design Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Support the Company's mission, vision, values, and goals in the performance of daily activities.
โ€ข Creates designs for new and/or improved detail parts and assemblies for automotive structural components, frames, and associated components.
โ€ข Work with the project team to develop designs that fit the vehicle package and meet or exceed the performance targets specified by the customer promptly.
โ€ข Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals, along with identifying key measures to support the departmental goals.
โ€ข Designs projects for new and improved designs for automobile structural members, modules, and associated components.
โ€ข Supports the design process among engineers with model designs, analysis, and detailed cost estimation.
โ€ข Establishes and monitors capability and standard practice expectations.
โ€ข Assures quality compliance in both design and structural characteristics.
โ€ข Support weekly program Tech Reviews.
โ€ข Responsible for initiating ECRs in Matrix One/Campfire, support PM's with all program ECRs. Input, track, and log ECR entries from team evaluators and ensure team members respond to ECRs promptly.
โ€ข Participates in the design process, evaluating durability and other features to meet manufacturing requirements.
โ€ข Monitors budget, works with staff, and tracks resources to meet goals and deadlines.
โ€ข Tracks accountability, resource and pursues optimization of design methods.
โ€ข Verify component changes via overlay, including a second section for Matrix One/Campfire, and create a third overlay in product view.
โ€ข Assist in forming simulations
โ€ข Assist in blank nesting.
โ€ข Assist in updating BOM.
โ€ข Maintain the Design open issues log.
โ€ข Responsible for adhering to all internal and OSHA-required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in design, Engineering or equivalent experience.
โ€ข Knowledge of design standards in automobile structures and suspension systems.
โ€ข CAD, GD&T, CAE, and other software understanding.
โ€ข Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
โ€ข Experience with modeling techniques and drawing standards.
โ€ข Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
โ€ข Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
โ€ข Ability to convey technical details to a non-technical audience.
โ€ข Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
โ€ข Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
