Cyber Security Specialist

Location: Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA, 93437

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cyber Security Specialist to join our team at Vandenberg Space Force Base. The ideal candidate will be responsible for protecting our information systems and networks from cyber threats, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical data and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity incidents and threats in real-time.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses.
  • Implement and maintain security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus software.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices in compliance with DoD and Space Force regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure network architectures.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to reduce cyber risks.
  • Provide cybersecurity training and awareness programs for personnel.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and technology trends.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to security incidents and compliance audits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity or information security roles.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Experience with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or DoD RMF.
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles and technologies.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM, Security+).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
