Component Engineer I

Role Overview

  • Entry-level engineering role supporting manufacturing, repair, and field service organizations.
  • Develops foundational engineering and component-specific knowledge through training and hands-on assignments.
  • Provides technical ownership for assigned families of gas turbine components to ensure safe, high-quality delivery aligned with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead for assigned components, maintaining knowledge bases and resolving component-specific technical issues.
  • Ensure component quality through nonconformance evaluation, disposition, and compliance activities.
  • Act as authorized engineering authority for local repair materials, including acceptance or release of nonconforming products.
  • Project manage component-specific repair and development projects to completion within defined schedules.
  • Develop process maps, repair scopes, modifications, and process documentation.
  • Create and maintain repair process templates, process sheets, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all development, FAI, and documentation requirements are met.
  • Prepare technical customer updates and reports.
  • Support process optimization initiatives and removal of non-value-added work.
  • Support ISO 9001 audits and compliance efforts.
  • Ensure products meet or exceed internal quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Comply with safety policies and participate in team-based continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support overnight travel up to 15% as required.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles and technical knowledge to gas turbine components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, industry reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical reports and customer-facing documentation.
  • Ability to perform required mathematical calculations and sound engineering judgment based on specifications and requirements.
  • Advanced personal computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to work in industrial environments, including exposure to noise and chemicals, and adhere to safety and PPE requirements.
