Job description

Position Title: Audio Assistant:

The Audio Assistant helps mic the actors and during production trouble shoots the microphones including replacing batteries.

Responsibilities: Arrive earlier than cast and crew. Get mics from dressing rooms and insert batteries, and prep mic packs. Assist actors with mics and placement. Assist with a sound check and monitor sound issues on the Ipad during the performance. Communicate with the Audio Engineer (A1). Troubleshoot issues during performance and potentially replace batteries or fix mics on actors. Qualifications/Expectations: No experience necessary

Position Title: Sound Board Operator

The sound board operator is the technician who operates the sound system before, during and after each production. The audio assistant prepares the actors microphones and in some cases attaches the microphones. They remain on headset for the duration of the show and trouble shoot any microphone issues during the production.

Responsibilities: The sound board operator completes a pre-show check to ensure the proper functioning of speakers and other equipment, and for musicals, completes a battery check for the wireless microphones before the house is opened to the audience. The sound board operator may be positioned either in the booth (plays) or in the house (musicals). The sound board operator executes cues as called by the stage manager using various playback units. During musicals, the sound board operator mixes several microphones (including wireless), various playback units and in some circumstances, live musicians.
