Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Avionics Technician / Engineering Technician plays a key role in the design, assembly, testing, and verification of company's systems. In this role, you apply sound engineering principles to execute assigned projects, support propulsion system production and testing, and maintain detailed technical documentation and databases. You collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to validate requirements, develop test architectures, and ensure subsystems meet performance and quality standards in a fast-paced, cutting-edge space environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned propulsion-related projects using sound engineering principles while adhering to established standards, practices, procedures, and program requirements.
  • Perform propulsion system assembly, functional testing, and quality control activities by following detailed work instructions and formal test procedures.
  • Develop and maintain propulsion assembly documentation at the subassembly level, including assembly reports, non-conformance reports, test procedures and setups, tooling documentation, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Maintain and update test and inventory databases associated with propulsion production activities to ensure accurate tracking of components, hardware, and test results.
  • Troubleshoot and support investigations into component anomalies and failures, including performing root-cause analysis and recommending appropriate dispositions and corrective actions.
  • Develop reference performance test plans and procedures for propulsion hardware, identifying required equipment and designing test setups that meet technical and safety requirements.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for the production and testing of satellite propulsion systems, including electric propulsion assemblies and associated hardware.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in electrical harnesses or wiring harnesses assembly/testing.
  • Strong knowledge in assembly, operation, and/or testing, with proven experience executing detailed work instructions and test procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, collaborating with systems, integration, and test teams.
  • Ability to adapt and remain effective in a fast-paced and dynamic setting with evolving priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare documentation and present technical information clearly.
  • Hands-on experience with testing processes and methodologies for propulsion or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency working with wire harnesses, including assembly, routing, and verification.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems, including assembly, operation, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications (nice to have or preferred)

  • Experience performing precision assembly work on complex electro-mechanical or propulsion hardware.
  • Familiarity with using oscilloscopes for signal measurement and diagnostic testing.
  • Experience operating signal generators in support of test setups and performance verification.
  • Hands-on soldering experience for electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience working with vibration tables for environmental and qualification testing of hardware.
  • Familiarity with sensors and actuators used in propulsion or electro-mechanical systems, including calibration and functional verification.
  • Experience performing calibration activities on test equipment or sensors to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Proven ability to contribute within a cutting-edge space technology environment focused on satellite and space exploration systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
