Job description

Control Applications Technical Intern Level II
What you will do:
Pre-Entry level engineering position joining the team that develops Equipment Controls, Building Automation Systems and Smart Building products used by our customers to run their buildings and manage their energy costs. Work as part of a team under the close direction of experienced engineers to apply and enhance your engineering development skills to develop applications, products and tools.
How you will do it:
As a member of the HVAC systems & applications development team for the Global Products group, the candidate will assist the engineers in the developing, testing and supporting of control related products for the business. This includes:
  • Learning about the general system components and requirements of the Johnson Controls Global Products business.
  • Designing, building and setting up the automated test configurations required to execute the assigned test plans.
  • Assist development team with troubleshooting defects.
  • Working on small projects that aid in the development, simulation and emulation of our products.

Ideal candidate will have an interest in understanding many disciplines especially, control systems, thermodynamics, digital/control logic, programming, hardware and software, HVAC systems, and physical system modeling.
What we look for:
Qualifications
  • Working on B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
  • Demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and independently.
  • Experience with Matlab and/or Simulink preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Basic software coding skills required.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to stand out, overcome barriers and deliver results.
  • Prior work experience as an intern is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work 12 hrs or more a week during the school year and 40 hrs a week during summer break.
