Job description

Sheppard Pratt School in Gaithersburg is a dynamic nonpublic special education day school committed to providing comprehensive year-round educational, therapeutic, and daily living services to students aged 12 to 21. Our tailored programs cater to students with autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, and other health impairments, ensuring each student receives the support they need to thrive. We may be small, but our dedication is anything but. What to expect.

You will join a collaborative learning environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of the students in our care. This role offers rich, entry level, experience in special education if your goals include careers like special education teacher, registered behavior technician (RBT), or board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA).  Starting pay rate: $18.50/hour.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the teacher as a paraprofessional educator and/or working with assigned student as a 1:1 dedicated aide.
  • Supporting Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives by documenting student progress and providing additional instruction and structure.
  • Providing educational and adaptive behavior support.
  • Providing behavior intervention and treatment.
  • Opportunities for leading classroom activities.

    The pay range for this position is $18.50/hr minimum - $22.95/hr maximum.  Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
