Job description

Description
GF Hotels & Resorts is looking for a career-minded Tax Specialist for our rapidly growing company. This position is ideal for a candidate who is looking to be part of a motivated, fun, and professional working environment. This role will handle sales and use tax compliance, and the preparation of monthly sales/use and special tax returns, which involves gathering information from various data sources, then preparing and validating a high volume of sales tax returns. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to multitask, a willingness to learn, and be passionate about contributing to the accounting team.
Responsibilities
• Timely preparation, filing, and processing of payments for state, local, and special tax returns, as assigned
• Answer basic sales tax questions for various business units with limited assistance
• Assist the Tax Manager with the sales and use tax audit defense in a timely manner by communicating with auditors, performing tax research, completing audit schedules, providing relevant supporting documentation, coordinating document requests and communications with the field and other departments
• Complete basic local sales tax registrations without assistance, complex local registrations with assistance
• Prepare tax JE's and reconcile monthly tax accrual accounts
• Review monthly exemption compliance
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Communicate directly with states and local agencies
• Communicate with internal and external customers
• Assist with other projects as needed
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Must be analytical and detail-oriented
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
• Ability to work under pressure with short deadlines
• Experience with M3 general ledger preferred
• Proficient use of technology, including Microsoft Office
Experience working with multi-state taxes for multiple outlets simultaneously is a plus
Hotel transactional tax experience preferred
