Job description

Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

This entry-level production role focuses on supporting machine operations by safely moving large paper rolls, assisting with roll loading, and performing quality inspections. You will use manual and powered equipment to stage materials, remove defective sections, and help maintain a smooth and efficient production flow on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

  • Move paper rolls from the staging area behind the machine to the operator’s loading area using a roller and a small hand jack-like piece of equipment.
  • Assist machine operators by properly positioning and preparing rolls for converting and other production processes.
  • Inspect paper rolls for quality issues, such as moisture or damage, and remove defective sections by cutting and peeling off affected portions.
  • Use hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively to support production and material handling tasks.
  • Perform general labor and manufacturing helper duties to keep the production line running efficiently.
  • Support machine operation activities as a machine assistant, including monitoring materials and reporting issues to the operator.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required hearing protection and adherence to equipment operation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and productivity.
  • Work assigned shifts and occasional overtime to meet production demands.

Essential Skills

  • Experience or strong aptitude in general production or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks, including pushing, pulling, and maneuvering large paper rolls safely.
  • Comfort using rollers and basic material-handling equipment such as small hand jacks.
  • Basic familiarity with machine operating or machine assisting in a production setting.
  • Ability to perform visual quality inspections and identify defects in paper rolls.
  • Competence using hand tools and basic power tools in a safe manner.
  • Capability to work in a roll tender, machine assistant, or manufacturing helper capacity.
  • Reliability in following safety protocols, including wearing required hearing protection in loud environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in roll tender work, machine assisting, or similar production support roles.
  • Previous experience in general labor, production, or manufacturing helper positions.
  • Comfort working around automated and semi-automated machinery.
  • Ability to adapt to different shifts, including early morning, afternoon, and weekend schedules.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and grow into advanced production roles such as lead operator, machine tender, or production supervisor.

Why Work Here?

This opportunity offers clear paths for career growth from an entry-level position into lead operator, machine tender, and production supervisor roles. The organization is expanding and has introduced a new weekend shift where employees can work 36 hours and be paid for 40, supporting both work-life balance and earning potential. You will join a growing production team that values advancement, stability, and opportunities to develop new skills in a structured environment.

Work Environment

The work environment is a safe, temperature-controlled production facility that can become loud when machines are running, so ear plugs are required. Conditions may feel colder during winter months when shipping doors are open. You will work on a manufacturing floor with operating machinery, material-handling equipment such as rollers and hand jacks, and standard hand and power tools. Available schedules include 5:00am–3:00pm Monday through Thursday, 3:00pm–1:00am Monday through Thursday, and 5:00am–5:00pm Friday and Saturday, with occasional overtime to meet production needs.
