Job description

Landscape Design Intern

SWA is seeking talented, design oriented candidates who want to gain professional experience on landscape architecture, urban design, and/or planning projects preferably for three to four months full time in any part of the year. Degree candidates in landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, and planning are encouraged to apply. Compensation is hourly. In person candidates strongly preferred.

Recent graduates please apply to our Entry-Level Designer (0-3 years) position. Note that the Summer Studio or Summer Student Program is a separate program/position.

Working with us in this role, you may be responsible for:

  • Design
  • 3D modeling
  • Rendering
  • Producing presentation graphics and presentations
  • Assisting in preparation of construction drawings/documents, sets
  • Attending and participating in meetings
  • Work with senior designers on a collaborative team

Job location: New York, NY; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Laguna Beach, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Sausalito, CA

Requirements:

  • Enrolled student status in a professional undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited program in landscape architecture, architecture, planning, or urban design.

The ideal candidate has:

  • 0-1 years professional experience in a design office
  • Strong design skills
  • Strong graphic and 3D modeling skills
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking skills, analysis
  • Ability to take direction
  • Proficiency in:
    • AutoCAD 2018+
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, esp.)
    • Microsoft Office
    • 3D modeling (SketchUp or Rhino)
    • Google Earth Pro
  • Additional experience with the following is desirable, but not essential:
    • Lumion
    • Revit
    • Grasshopper

    • Hand sketching
