Job Summary

Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School, a St. Louis Archdiocesan coeducational college preparatory high school serving grades 9-12, seeks a highly qualified and visionary Art Instructor for the 2026-2027 school year. Cardinal Ritter is home to a renowned and growing visual arts program, and we are seeking an educator who can continue to elevate its excellence. The ideal candidate is both an artist and educator-capable of delivering rigorous, studio-based instruction across multiple disciplines, including 3D art, photography, graphic design, and yearbook development. This role requires a creative professional who can cultivate student voice, technical skill, and portfolio development while preparing scholars for college-level study and careers in the visual arts, media, and design industries.

The Employed Person is Expected to:

  • Articulate and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, mission, and vision of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese
    of St. Louis and Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School.
  • Design and deliver rigorous, studio-based instruction in 3D art, photography, and graphic design.
  • Lead and oversee the development, production, and publication of the school yearbook.
  • Teach artistic techniques, design principles, composition, and visual storytelling.
  • Integrate digital tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and photography/editing
    software.
  • Foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression through project-based learning.
  • Support students in building high-quality portfolios for college admissions and scholarships.
  • Organize and showcase student work through exhibitions, competitions, and community partnerships.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio/classroom environment.
  • Utilize instructional technology, Google applications, and student data systems effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Photography, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Missouri State Teaching Certification in Art (ability to obtain)
  • Demonstrated expertise in 3D art (sculpture, mixed media, etc.), photography, and graphic design
  • Experience with yearbook development, publication design, or student media production
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and digital design tools
  • Strong portfolio of personal and/or student work (required)
  • Experience teaching in an urban and/or college preparatory environment (preferred)
  • Ability to deliver rigorous, culturally responsive instruction that reflects and affirms student identity
  • Strong classroom management, organization, and project-planning skills
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a high-performing academic community
