The Medical Abstractor is responsible for reviewing medical records, extracting and validating clinical data, and entering information into designated abstraction systems in accordance with contract requirements, customer specifications, and organizational policies. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of healthcare data used for quality measurement, regulatory reporting, performance improvement initiatives, and the evaluation of patient care outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital, healthcare or medical record review environment.
  • Education or formal training in a related field may substitute for experience requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform work accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on clinical data abstraction.
  • Familiarity with healthcare quality measures and chart review methodologies.
  • Proven ability to meet strict daily chart-volume quotas and accuracy standards.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
