WORK LOCATION: Ann Arbor, MI

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $23.00 to $32.00 per hour. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.

SUMMARY

Quality Inspector II performs complex dimensional, visual, and functional inspection of parts, assemblies, and special process work, including first article inspection (FAI) in accordance with AS9102, within an AS9100 certified aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. Exercising moderate independent judgment, the incumbent interprets complex drawings and GD&T, initiates nonconformance documentation, and provides guidance to entry level inspectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.

  • Perform complex receiving, in-process, source, and final inspection of machined parts, electromechanical assemblies, and special-process product against engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Operate precision inspection equipment, including coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical comparators, height gauges, and surface-finish instruments.
  • Plan and complete first article inspections (FAI) and prepare FAI reports in accordance with AS9102.
  • Initiate and document nonconformance reports (NCR), accurately characterize defects, and support material review board (MRB) activities.
  • Verify special-process and outside-processing certifications (for example, heat treat, plating, welding, and conformal coat) against applicable specifications.
  • Review inspection and measurement data for completeness and accuracy and ensure proper retention of quality records.
  • Provide work direction, training, and technical guidance to Quality Inspector I personnel.
  • Support internal audits, calibration control, FOD, and ESD (ANSI/ESD S20.20) program requirements.
  • Adhere to all quality, safety, ITAR/EAR, and environmental requirements applicable to the work area.
