This includes product evaluation, accreditation, technology, training, and certification. ICC Codes, Standards, and solutions are used to ensure safe, affordable, and sustainable communities and buildings worldwide. While our roots are firmly planted in the development of the Codes and Standards, our growth allows us to offer many more services to support our Codes and Standards.


Subsidiary Summary: NTA provides product testing, evaluation, and certification to ensure build-related products, systems, and materials are safe and compliant. This includes plan review, inspection, and HUD services


Position Summary: We are seeking an entry level ICC Building Inspector in the Indiana region. We are also willing to train an entry level individual who is motivated and has a drive to learn new skills. Individuals must be motivated to take the necessary code tests and willing to work to become a seasoned ICC Building Inspector. This position requires frequent travel within the Indiana Inspections Region.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform regularly scheduled in plant audits as requested by the Regional Inspection Manager.
  • Perform on-site scheduled audits as requested by Regional Inspection Manager.
  • Perform product sampling as requested by Regional Inspection Manager
  • Continually monitor the clientโ€™s implementation of approved quality systems.
  • Continually evaluate and communicate the status of each clientโ€™s quality system to the Regional Inspection Manager.
  • All inspection reports will be sent to the Regional Inspection Manager for review by the end of each month.
  • Establish excellent relationships with States and HUD to ensure we are respected as a leader and partner
  • Ensure all applicable ICC NTA procedures are consistently followed in the execution of inspection jobs.
  • Continually identify, recommend, and pursue opportunities for process improvements within the Department and ICC NTA.

Secondary Functions:

  • Promote effective communication throughout the organization. Identify opportunities and recommend actions that will enhance communication among all employees.
  • Contribute on an ongoing basis, insights and ideas for resolving repetitive issues as they arise in the field by establishing and maintaining a consistent line of communication with Inspection Managers.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special assignments as directed by the Regional Inspection Manager.
Requirements:

Essential Skills and Education/Experience:

  • Must or be willing to obtain a U.S. Passport upon hiring
  • Must pass ICC Residential examinations in Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing within 12 months of employment.
  • Must complete CEU training as required to maintain licenses and certifications.
  • Ability to physically travel to the client facility or worksite via airplane or by driving an automobile.
  • Two yearsโ€™ experience working in building construction, building code enforcement or performing quality assurance audits.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License is required
  • Some overnight travel is required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or desk
  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching to access files or office supplies
  • Manual dexterity for typing, filing, and handling office equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, documents)
  • Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone
  • May need to climb stairs in multi-level office building
