Job description

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Technician I support plant quality operations by inspecting, testing, and verifying product conformance throughout the manufacturing process-from incoming materials through finished goods. This role assists with gage calibration and maintenance, first piece and first article inspections, production and supplier quality assurance, analysis of nonconforming materials, warranty returns review, and ISO quality system audits when assigned. This is an entry-level, hands-on technical position. Training will be provided as needed. Location: Onsite - Columbia City, Indiana

Key Responsibilities

Perform first piece and first article inspections and communicate results to production teams.

Audit production line quality to ensure products meet specifications.

Support production associates with quality questions and troubleshooting.

Assist with product teardowns, warranty analysis, and technical reporting.

Measure and analyze nonconforming material, support disposition and processing.

Inspect supplier-purchased materials.

Measure product dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauges, steel rules, and CMMs.

Support calibration and documentation of gaging equipment.

Interpret blueprints and technical documentation.

Record inspection and test results accurately.

Assist with associate training related to quality processes and measurement techniques. Communicate across shifts and participate in overtime rotation as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication and attention to detail.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic quality issues.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Willingness to complete additional metrology training.
  • Previous experience effectively collaborating with teams
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

One or more years of quality or manufacturing experience.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and inspection methods.

SAP experience preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment

Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; frequently lift up to 25 pounds.

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
