Position Summary

The Mechanical Designer applies engineering and design principles to support the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of motors and generators. This role focuses on creating and maintaining bills of materials, drawings, and specifications while partnering closely with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently and cost-effectively.

This position is well-suited for entry-level designers with a 2-year degree as well as experienced professionals with a 4-year degree looking to grow within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain engineering documentation including bills of materials, routers, submittals, detailed drawings, revisions, and installation instructions
  • Support manufacturing by resolving issues related to drawings, materials, and manufacturing methods
  • Collaborate with design engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and purchasing teams to support quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction
  • Follow and help maintain standard processes, procedures, and engineering documentation practices
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed

  • Technical aptitude with an understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, 3D modeling/CAD software, Microsoft Office, and other project-based software tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and levels of the organization
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality
  • Solid problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn new processes and adapt to changing work situations

Take on broader responsibility for independent design work, complex documentation, and cross-functional problem-solving. Expected to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support more complex projects, and mentor less experienced team members as appropriate.

Advancement within the role is based on demonstrated performance, technical proficiency, collaboration, and business impact-not solely tenure or degree level.
