The DeForest Police Department is seeking entry level police officer applicants to work in a fast-growing community with opportunities for growth within the department. The department has specialized positions including K9 Handler, Instructor, Drone Pilot, Recruiter, Search Warrant Team, School Resource Officer, and Detective.
U.S. Citizen; 18 years of age; driver’s license; good driving record; good physical condition; high school diploma; a minimum of 60 college credits, eligibility for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification; possess a skill set acquired through previous employment that displays maturity, experience, and a work ethic that is consistent with employment as a Law Enforcement Officer. These employment fields may include but are not limited to social work, educators, and healthcare professionals, ability to possess a firearm; no felony convictions; no domestic abuse convictions; good verbal and written communication skills; able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; ability to perform essential functions of this position; ability to use all standard law enforcement equipment.

The Police Department employs 26 full-time employees, including an authorized staff of 23 full-time police officers. The department operates with a Chief of Police, Captain of Police, Lieutenant of Police, 5 Sergeants, 2 rotating Detectives, 1 rotating School Resource Officer, 12 Patrol Officers, an Executive Assistant, and 2 Administrative Assistants.
