Split position: Paraeducator and Administrative Assistant

Full Time/Academic Calendar 185 days
Position Overview: This unique role supports both classroom learning and school office operations. The primary focus is assisting teachers and helping students succeed. This position also serves as the main backup for the school secretary, handling office tasks whenever needed.
Major Responsibilities & Requirements:
  • Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the guidance of certified special education teachers and BCBA.
  • Support students in developing independent learning skills and self-management strategies.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress and needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support the overall development and progress of students.
  • Under the supervision of the Principal, provide technical, clerical and organizational support/assistance to the STEPS MS/HS.
  • Assure that all routine clerical tasks (mail, emailing, filing, copying, etc.) are performed accurately, in a timely fashion, and in a manner that advances the efficiency of the office
  • Work effectively in a team format to assure that all office functions are completed in a timely and quality manner
  • Maintain effective working relationship with all agency personnel
  • Demonstrate the ability to be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Competency with Google Suite (including but not limited to Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gemini, etc)
  • Familiarity with PowerSchool
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Must have taken and passed the ParaPro test or have 2 years full time post-secondary education (minimum 60 credits) or Associate's Degree or higher
  • Preference will be given to candidates pursuing or interested in becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), but all individuals passionate about working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges are encouraged to apply.
  • Consistent attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Previous experience in a school setting and working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities
  • Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and emergency physical management as required.
