Job description

This position is an entry-level position responsible for the daily operations of a Propane Terminal using compressors and pumps to offload Railcars into transports. The terminal is a fast paced and labor-intensive environment. Operators will be subject to performing tasks indoor and outdoor under varying temperature extremes, dealing with heights, and safely handling propane.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Key Responsibilities & Tasks will include the following:
  • Operate and maintain high pressure storage facilities and pipeline equipment to include, but not limited to, compressors, valves, gas measurement equipment, etc.
  • Start-up/shut down of plant equipment.
  • Operate equipment in the recommended or prescribed operating ranges.
  • Visually inspect equipment and controls at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication.
  • De-pressure equipment and pipeline according to standard operating equipment (SOP).
  • Operate valves according to standard operating equipment procedures (SOP).
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and record keeping requirements are met and continually monitored.
  • Accurately read, monitor, and record various operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, hours of operations, tank readings.
  • Ensure buildings, equipment and surrounding areas are in safe and clean working conditions by picking up/taking trash out, controlling weeds and grassy areas, perform minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Clean site glasses, replace suction/discharge valves on pipelines, replace lightbulbs and fuses and minor painting as needed.
  • Collaborate with Terminal Manager on ways to improve plant and pipeline operating systems.
  • Will be required to work on call as needed, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Responsible for environmental and safety inspections.
  • Monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards and pro-actively address and resolve issues, respond to emergencies, and provide daily operational reports.
  • Abide by company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned, which to be completed safely and on time.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong mechanical background.
  • Physically & mentally able to climb railcars.
  • Ability to lift 75lbs.
  • Ability to work outside and withstand extreme weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record, with good transportation.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
  • MUST have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff, management, and vendors.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills with staff, management, and vendors.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite is required.
