Job description

This role provides administrative and operational support to the Claims Manager within the delegated authority claims function. This role is responsible for accurate claim setup, file organization, documentation, and deadline tracking. It also involves communication with third parties, and routine reporting to help ensure claims are managed efficiently and in alignment with internal standards and service level agreements (SLAs).

The Claims Assistant- Will work full time in our Red Bank, NJ Office  - Or a Hybrid Schedule in Worcester, MA Office

Responsibilities:

  • Open new claims in the claims management system; capture required loss and policy information; assign to independent adjusters as directed; and establish diaries and reporting timelines in accordance with Claims Manager direction and SLAs
  • Assemble and maintain complete electronic claim files, ensuring key documents are indexed, stored, and retrievable for audits and internal/external requests
  • Prepare and submit claim files and supporting documentation to third parties (e.g., coverage counsel, subrogation vendors, carriers, and other partners) as instructed
  • Run and distribute routine reports (e.g., monthly claim bordereaux and status reports) and support ad hoc reporting requests from Claims and Underwriting
  • Assist with payment processing by coordinating required approvals and accurately recording payment activity in applicable systems
  • Process loss run requests for delegated authority accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to internal stakeholders and external partners
  • For claims reported to carriers where Jencap does not hold delegated authority, complete claim entry, file documentation, and support coordination with the carrier and assigned adjusters
  • Review and update claims procedures and desk guides as needed to support consistent workflows and compliance, as directed by the Claims Manager

Requirements

  • 2-3 Years Prior Experience with Excel reporting, working in multiple systems and workstreams required. 
  • Insurance knowledge strongly preferred but no required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal partners and third parties
  • This role requires a customer service mindset and responsiveness when supporting Underwriting, Claims, carriers, adjusters, and other external partners
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including the ability to format and maintain reports
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through; able to manage confidential information appropriately
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors. Discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded.
