Job description

Position Summary

The Operations Assistant supports the Director of Operations by handling hands-on floor tasks — including pallet movement, forklift operation, and label cutting/order processing — that are essential to daily warehouse operations. This role is intended to grow over time from directly performing floor tasks toward taking on quality-checking and oversight of that work as performed by other floor staff, and eventually broader operational support responsibilities.

This is not intended as a purely entry-level, static labor position. We are looking for someone with a genuine ceiling for growth — someone who can be trusted to learn a task correctly, then help ensure others are doing it correctly as well.

Key Responsibilities

Floor Operations

• Move and stage pallets (incoming, storage, and outgoing) to established standards.

• Operate a forklift safely and accurately to transport pallets and materials throughout the warehouse.

• Cut and group shipping labels accurately (orders are grouped in sets of 3 labels per order).

• Assist with order management — ensuring orders are accurately assembled, grouped, and staged for shipment.

• Assist with receiving and inventory staging as needed.

Growth Responsibilities (as proficiency is established)

• Quality-check and spot-check the work of other floor staff, particularly label cutting and order accuracy.

• Support basic documentation and order-prioritization tasks.

• Assist with floor communication — relaying priorities and standards to other floor staff.

• Take on additional operational responsibilities as trust and performance are established.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid forklift operator certification, or ability to obtain certification promptly (employer-provided training may be available).

• Demonstrated reliability and consistency in a prior warehouse, inventory, or logistics role.

• Ability to learn physical/procedural tasks quickly and follow a shown standard accurately.

• Comfortable asking questions when uncertain rather than guessing or working around a gap in knowledge.

• Able to work independently once trained, without requiring constant supervision.

• Physically able to perform warehouse floor work, including repeated lifting, bending, and moving pallets/boxes (specify weight requirements, e.g. up to 50 lbs).

• Comfortable being on your feet for the majority of a shift.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred

• Prior experience operating a forklift in a live warehouse environment.

• Prior experience training or checking the work of other team members, even informally.

• Familiarity with inventory counting, order accuracy, or shipping/receiving processes.

• Demonstrated interest in taking on more responsibility over time (supervisory growth potential).

Work Environment & Schedule

• Warehouse floor environment; exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and equipment typical of a warehouse setting.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional overtime/weekend need.

What We're Looking For

Beyond the specific tasks, we're looking for someone dependable who can be trusted to do a job right and to help hold others accountable to that same standard. This role has real potential to grow into a more supervisory position for the right person.
