Job Summary/Description:

WXIX FOX19 Now is seeking a dynamic News Producer to create memorable, engaging newscasts in a highly competitive news market. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and decisive newsroom leader who thrives on urgency, breaking news, and evolving coverage plans – while keeping viewer benefit as the top priority. This role is for a producer who can showcase: building smart rundowns and executing strong storytelling, pacing, and visuals in collaboration with reporters, anchors, directors, and newsroom leadership. FOX19 Now producers must understand and execute our mission to own weather coverage, deliver breaking news with speed and accuracy, and elevate the biggest stories of the day.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Produce assigned newscasts (flexible schedule – AM, weekend shifts likely) from planning through execution.
• Build rundowns that prioritize viewer benefit, strong storytelling, and clear communication.
• Write and edit compelling broadcast scripts and teases.
• Execute a weather-first and breaking-news-first mindset.
• Collaborate closely with other producers, managers, reporters, anchors, directors, and digital teams to maximize impact across platforms.
• Lead the control room during your newscast.
• Use news judgment to select, order, and present stories with appropriate context, fairness, and accuracy.
• Monitor multiple sources for developing stories.
• Incorporate live elements and strong visuals (live shots, graphics, maps, user-generated content when vetted) to enhance storytelling.
• Maintain high standards for accuracy, grammar, ethics, and compliance with station policies

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 1+ year producing experience preferred (strong entry-level candidates considered).
• Bachelor’s in Journalism/Broadcast/Communications or equivalent experience.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organization skills; strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to perform under deadline pressure.
• Skilled with social media for newsgathering and audience awareness.
