Job Description

The Producer / Reporter Associate is part of NBCU Local Television Stations’ Development Program. The program aims to develop talented journalists to become great television reporters. The program is well suited to attract television or digital journalists early in their careers or experienced print journalists interested in transitioning to television as on-air reporters.

The program will include a significant investment in training and coaching to equip the selected participants with the skills needed to become successful television reporters. This entry-level position is designed to grow a talented and motivated journalist passionate about storytelling and covering the communities we serve.

Responsibilities: 

  • Create multi-platform, innovative and compelling content that differentiates our work from our competitors
  • Collaborate with the multi-platform editorial team to brainstorm and develop story ideas
  • Write engaging news stories, adhering to strict deadlines
  • Produce accurate and reliable news reports across various platforms
  • Use different storytelling and editing techniques across various platforms, including linear, social media, and streaming
  • Research and write scripts for news content
  • Build skills around conducting interviews, developing solid news judgment, preparing and performing stand-ups, and producing a professional news package
  • Assist the TNS Desk with production operations, coordinate with field reporters, respond to station requests, and coordinate live shots. Also provide support for requests from the Telemundo Network.
  • Edit news packages and related content.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Journalism or Communication or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as a reporter or Multi-Media Journalist
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative thinking and a passion for creating innovative and compelling content
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn from experienced journalists and adapt to changing industry trends
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) written and verbal is a plus
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and overnights
