Job description

Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits' products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Our products are also used in detection, measurement and imaging applications, including military communication, guidance and electronic countermeasure systems, commercial, scientific, military land, sea and aircraft, automotive systems, medical systems, and industrial test equipment.
Mini-Circuits' sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website.

Position Summary:

RF Design Engineer I (DE I) is an entry-level engineering position responsible for supporting the design, modeling, simulation, characterization, validation, verification and design-related documentation of ceramic-based RF and millimeter-wave single function passive components, packages and multi-function modules.

This role is ideal for recent graduates with strong RF fundamentals, curiosity to learn, and a proactive mindset. The DE I works under close guidance from a Senior Engineer while gaining hands-on experience with RF simulation tools, laboratory measurements, and Mini-Circuits' product development processes.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $98,000 per year

Job Function:
  • Support RF design and development activities for passive RF, millimeter-wave components, packages and multi-function modules under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
  • Execute EM and circuit-level simulations using tools such as Ansys HFSS, Genesys, ADS, or CST.
  • Model designs and run simulation sweeps, parametric studies, and optimizations as directed; analyze and summarize results.
  • Assist with RF measurements and characterization using laboratory equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Power Supplies, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and others.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze measured and simulated data to support design reviews, reports and design-related decisions.
  • Prepare the necessary documentation to support Mini-Circuits' Product Generation Process (PGP).
  • Support product characterization, qualification, and test development activities in collaboration with Product, Manufacturing, Quality and Test Engineers.
  • Work with the Project Management team to plan and execute assigned tasks within the committed timelines and budget.
  • Support engineering organization in ISO Audits and Management reviews and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Assist senior engineer in drafting company procedures and processes to ensure the highest level of design and manufacturing standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Collaborate with peers in the creation of Intellectual Property (IP) to maintain technical relevance in materials and processes, circuital topologies, design methodologies/techniques, simulation software and modeling techniques, device characterization techniques and novel production testing strategies.
  • Create scripts and execute simulation runs to optimize the performance of passive RF, Microwave and Millimeter-Wave components.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 0 - 1 year of experience, specializing in RF design, including relevant RF coursework, RF/microwave circuit design experience through industry exposure, or RF-related academic capstone projects.
