Position Overview:

As aSimulation Technicianat Galen College of Nursing, you will support and enhance simulation experiences for all learners in collaboration with program faculty to ensure quality and continuity in the achievement of course student learning outcomes (CSLOs) for all programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Set up, operate, store, maintain, update, and repair simulators, task trainers and other simulation equipment. 
  2. Provide general support and troubleshooting for medical simulation equipment. 
  3. Support Simulation Center users in the use of instructional media and equipment. 
  4. Contribute to and maintain simulation equipment documentation. 
  5. Demonstrate a general knowledge of adult learning theory. 
  6. Support all aspects of the learning environment. 
  7. Prepare the simulation environment to represent the clinical setting. 
  8. Create moulage to model physiologic responses to the scenario events. 
  9. Maintain stock control, ensuring adequate security and levels of consumables and equipment are maintained. 
  10. Ensure preparation and storage areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly manner and comply with health and safety regulations. 
  11. Demonstrate working knowledge of a range of common audio-visual and IT hardware and software. 
  12. Provide general technical support and troubleshooting for the audio-visual and IT system. 
  13. Set up, operate, and store audiovisual and IT equipment. 
  14. Demonstrate safe and effective operation of the audio-visual system and simulation equipment. 
  15. Other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of a technical diploma or associate degree from an accredited institution required. 
  • Experience: Affinity for a technical role (IT, A/V, Electronics/Computer building). 
  • Special Qualifications: Possess basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology or agree to enroll in course upon hire. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people. Attention to detail and follow through. 
  • Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Position requires critical thinking, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making. Physical demands in classroom and lab minimal and considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying such articles as manikins, supplies, files, and books (75 pounds maximum). 
  • Degree of Supervision: Minimal.
