Job description

ABOUT FENWAY SPORTS GROUP

Fenway Sports Group is one of the world’s premier sports and entertainment companies, with a portfolio that includes the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool FC, Pittsburgh Penguins, RFK Racing, Boston Common Golf, and a significant investment in PGA Tour Enterprises. Headquartered in Boston, FSG is home to some of the most iconic clubs in global sport.

We are a small, high-performing team that moves fast, works hard, and takes pride in building things that matter. We are looking for people who are energized by building something from the ground up and who bring genuine investment to the work.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Fenway Sports Group is building out its communications and content infrastructure, and this role is at the center of that effort. We are looking for a Social Media Coordinator to help stand up FSG’s social presence, establishing accounts, building an audience, and publishing content consistently across platforms.

This is an entry-level role with real ownership and impact. You will work closely with the editorial and communications leads to bring FSG’s stories, perspectives, and portfolio to life online, reaching fans, business leaders, and the broader sports ecosystem with content that is thoughtful, and built for how people consume social media today.

We are looking for someone who brings ideas, understands the platforms deeply, and is energized by the challenge of building an audience.

The base salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 based on relevant experience. Additionally, this position qualifies for annual incentive pay along with our comprehensive benefits package.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish and manage FSG’s social media accounts across platforms including Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and others as the strategy develops
  • Publish original content regularly across all active channels, maintaining consistency, voice, and quality
  • Build and manage a content calendar in close collaboration with the editorial and communications team
  • Translate business objectives and company narratives into storytelling opportunities suited for relevant social channels
  • Monitor social platforms for relevant conversations, trends, and emerging narratives, identifying opportunities in real time
  • Support the creation of social media assets including graphics, short video clips, and formatted content in coordination with in-house design and production resources
  • Develop consistent platform reporting and bring data-informed insights to the team to drive overall communications strategy
  • Maintain deep knowledge of industry trends across social media, evolving tactics for changing platform algorithms, content trends, and best practice
  • Collaborate with FSG properties and liaise with social and communications teams to amplify content and grow FSG’s cross-platform presence
  • Assist in translating editorial and thought leadership content into formats and copy suited to each platform
CHARACTERISTICS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least one year of hands-on social media experience publishing and managing accounts for a brand, company, sports team, or media organization (not just personal accounts)
  • Demonstrated ability to grow an audience and publish content consistently across multiple platforms
  • Strong writing skills and a feel for copy that performs, concise, engaging, and platform-appropriate
  • Fluency across major social platforms including Meta, X, and LinkedIn
  • Basic design capabilities in Adobe Photoshop and Canva is preferred
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the pace of a fast-moving organization where adaptability is  key
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach to the work. This is a small team and everyone rolls up their sleeves
  • Genuine enthusiasm for sports, sports business, or both
  • Based in Boston or willing to relocate. This is a full-time, in-person role
OUR TEAM:

We are a small team with a lot of ground to cover. The portfolio is wide, and no two days will look the same. What we offer is real access, responsibility, and the opportunity to build something from the ground up at one of the most recognized sports companies in the world. We work hard, are open and honest with one another, and we expect the same from everyone we bring on.

At the Boston Red Sox we go beyond embracing diversity. We’re committed to living by our values, strengthening our community, and creating a workplace where people genuinely feel like they belong.

Too often, job seekers don’t apply to positions because they don’t meet every qualification. If you love this role and are great at what you do, we encourage you to apply. Your unique skills and experiences might just be what we’ve been looking for.

Prospective employees will receive consideration without discrimination based on race, religious creed, color, sex, age, national origin, handicap, disability, military/veteran status, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or protected genetic information.
