Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Clearwater, FL

About the Opportunity

[Confidential] is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support our engineering team in Clearwater, Florida. You will be responsible for designing and developing functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components while supporting both new product development and existing product enhancements.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or DraftSight
  • Experience with aluminum sheet metal and extrusion weldments


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing custom modular aluminum bodies
  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive, truck, specialty vehicle, or heavy-equipment systems
  • Experience working with advanced CAD systems


Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and design tasks in accordance with industry engineering standards and company processes.
  • Support senior engineers in preparing plans, designs, calculations, and technical reports.
  • Assist with projects of limited complexity and provide engineering support throughout development activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external partners as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding technical issues with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering criteria, drawing standards, and company procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Conduct engineering analyses to support the selection of components, materials, and systems.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing and production operations.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve engineering issues reported through verbal and written channels.
  • Utilize analytical and mathematical methods to model system performance and optimize designs.
