Job description

At Mainstream Engineering, our engineers turn innovative ideas into real-world products that solve complex technical challenges. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives in a hands-on development environment and enjoys taking concepts from prototype through production.
In this role, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, document, and refine cutting-edge products across a wide range of applications. If you enjoy fast-paced engineering work, detailed mechanical design, and seeing your work become reality, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional product development teams on new technology and product initiatives
  • Design and revise detailed 3D CAD models, including complex parts and assemblies for prototype and production systems
  • Create and maintain technical drawings for machined components, sheet metal parts, tubing, plastics/composites, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Support product development through engineering change orders (ECOs), revisions, and configuration management
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), product specification sheets, and technical documentation
  • Prepare and update quality assurance and manufacturing support documentation
  • Maintain organized CAD libraries and engineering documentation using Autodesk Inventor and Vault
  • Help establish and improve company-wide modeling and drafting standards
  • Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and production-ready

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of a 3.3 GPA for all completed degrees
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical product design and drafting
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes
  • Experience creating detailed technical drawings and applying GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5)
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 2024 or newer
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault 2024 or newer preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR restrictions

Why Mainstream Engineering?
At Mainstream Engineering, you won't be siloed into a narrow role. Our engineers work on meaningful projects, collaborate directly with experienced technical teams, and contribute to products from concept through commercialization. You'll have the opportunity to work in an environment that values innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on engineering.
Mainstream Engineering Corporation is an equal opportunity employer. Qualified candidates will be considered without regard to legally protected characteristics.
