Walt Churchill's Market is looking for a Part-Time Meat Clerk for our Perrysburg, OH location.

Job Summary:

The Meat Clerk provides exceptional service when greeting and assisting customers at the Meat counter, on the sales floor, and on the phone. Preparation, production, and cleaning are also key aspects.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers promptly, answering questions, and assisting customers with product selection
  • Package, weigh, wrap, price, and merchandise Meat Department products
  • Actively build product knowledge
  • Take special orders over the phone or in person as needed
  • Properly date items, check dates on all products to ensure freshness, and properly rotate stock in the cooler and on the sales floor
  • Maintain general sanitation practices, food safety practices, and food storage practices according to store and health department standards.
  • Clean department as necessary, including tasks such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, washing dishes, and cleaning machinery
  • Assist in beginner production tasks, such as sausage making
  • Safely and effectively operate equipment such as knives and the vacuum packer (minors), plus slicers, saws, grinders, and knives (18+)
  • Assist in training entry-level Meat department employees
  • Prepare special orders in the absence of a Meat Cutter, Meat Team Lead, or Manager, as needed
  • Assist in production of burgers, chicken, sausage, and Smokehouse items as needed
  • Assist customers with pairings and their locations, such as sauces, rubs, herbs, etc.
  • Put away stock in areas such as the cooler, freezer, and dry stock shelves, while rotating product and maintaining organized stock areas
  • Prepare and participate in product demos
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned

Pay:

Starting pay will be based on industry experience, internal equity, and scope of responsibility.

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers
  • Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time
  • Must have evening, weekend and holiday availability

Education & Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school education

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, and reaching
  • Occasional instances of pushing and pulling carts or pallets of product
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds
