Job description

Support the design, deployment, and maintenance of reliable client network environments while rapidly growing your technical expertise through intensive hands-on training alongside a team of senior engineers.
Compensation: $62,500/Year
Location: Sterling, VA (with monthly local travel)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:30A - 6:30P
Responsibilities:

  • Support & Operations: Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform foundational troubleshooting for connectivity, hardware, and performance issues across LAN, WAN, and VPN environments.
  • Maintenance & High-Value Training: Monitor network alerts, escalate complex issues, and perform routine system updates. You will receive deep-dive training to manage and configure servers, build machines, handle M365 environments, utilize AI tools, and support highly specialized machines and software in the healthcare industry.
  • Security: Assist in implementing security controls, including firewall rules, MFA, and secure remote access.
  • Documentation & Team Collaboration: Maintain accurate network diagrams and technical documentation while collaborating with senior staff. This is a high-visibility role working in close proximity to leadership, requiring a strong sense of accountability and professionalism.
  • On-Site Client Relations: Complete a monthly site visit to a large client in Tysons, VA. You will be on "standby" during their monthly meeting to ensure technology runs smoothly (basic A/V troubleshooting skills are a major plus here).
  • On-Call Support: After an initial onboarding and training period, serve in an emergency support role one (1) week per month. Includes a bonus and an increased pay rate when actively working a call.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2-3 years of professional experience in IT or networking roles.
  • Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing.
  • Systems: Familiarity with networking hardware and firewalls, with experience supporting Microsoft-based environments. A willingness and aptitude to learn complex, specialized systems is required.
  • Communication & Professionalism: Strong customer service-oriented and problem-solving mindset. Must have the ability to communicate technical details clearly to clients and internal teams, and maintain a high standard of professionalism in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred: Relevant certifications (Net+, Security+, A+), previous experience in an MSP environment, and basic corporate A/V familiarity.
