Entry-Level AutoCAD Drafter

Role Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level AutoCAD Drafter to support the creation and revision of technical drawings for fabrication and construction projects. This role is ideal for candidates looking to grow their drafting career in a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to develop accurate 2D drawings and maintain organized project documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and revise 2D drawings using AutoCAD based on engineering sketches, specifications, and project requirements
  • Assist with shop drawings, layouts, and fabrication details for steel components and related materials
  • Read and interpret basic structural, architectural, and fabrication drawings
  • Support the preparation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and project documentation
  • Update drawings and revisions based on customer or engineer feedback
  • Maintain organized drawing files, revision logs, and project records
  • Coordinate with internal departments including Production, Purchasing, and Sales to ensure project accuracy and timelines
  • Perform basic material takeoffs and assist with project tracking as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or coursework in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • 0–2 years of AutoCAD drafting experience
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD 2D
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and measurements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and willingness to learn in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs

Nice to Have

  • Internship or classroom experience with fabrication, construction, or manufacturing drawings
