Job description

Job Summary:
Purdue Information Technology is seeking a Systems Administrator to join their collaborative, on-site team. The role involves managing Windows and Linux systems, ensuring operational stability, and contributing to the design and improvement of enterprise IT environments.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, install, configure, test, and maintain enterprise-level Windows and Linux systems
• Monitor server performance and health while maintaining clear, up-to-date documentation
• Support day-to-day operations and long-term reliability of core infrastructure systems
• Collaborate with teammates to improve processes, architecture, and system design
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the environment
• Participate in Data Center Operations, including critical facility infrastructure
• Contribute to an on-call rotation to ensure system availability and responsiveness
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Proven ability to independently manage systems under general supervision
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to operational detail
• Interest in staying current with evolving technologies and infrastructure trends
• Knowledge of one or more of the following is required; familiarity of the rest is desired: Windows or Linux.
• Familiarity with servers from HPE, Dell, and Supermicro
• Ability to troubleshoot a variety of environments
• Must be able to travel between campuses
Preferred:
• Two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: Windows, or Linux systems administration.
• Hardware troubleshooting and maintenance of servers, peripherals, and networking systems preferred.
