Description
For over 30 years, the Violence Intervention (VIP) has been the leader in building transformative programs that raise the standard of care for all victims of child abuse, neglect, and sexual assault in Los Angeles County. Today, VIP functions as a public-private partnership between the publicly-funded VIP Children's Medical Village at the LAC+USC Medical Center and our non-profit, the VIP Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (VIP-CMHC). Our history of quality mental health care is due in large part to the dedicated and talented employees whose efforts have helped improve the lives of children, transitional age youth, and their families.
Position Summary
The FASD Program Navigator will work under the direct supervision of the FASD Program Manager. The navigator will assist clients, families, and other supportive service providers in navigating through challenges of obtaining FASD informed services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Learn about FASD program services and be available to communicate (in person, via phone, or email) with any caregivers who have questions regarding services and enrollment process
  • Collaborate with intake department on FASD referrals, including Triumph, FMF, and ongoing MHS. Keep updating client information as clients progress through FASD services.
  • Collect outcome measures for Triumph and FMF from caregivers
  • Create excel sheet to enter outcome measure data for Triumph and FMF
  • Will assist with creating marketing materials (e.g., brochures, flyers) for FASD trainings
  • Will assist with FASD trainings, including registration process, creating certificates, etc.
  • Will assist with creating FMF treatment binders for caregivers
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
  • Will be communication liaison between LA General FASD Medical Clinic and VIP CMHC FASD Program to coordinate flow of FASD screening cases
  • Will communicate with various agencies (e.g., DCSF, schools, mental health providers, attorneys, etc.) to gather needed documents (e.g., DCSF reports, school records, medical records, mental health records) for FASD screening cases
  • Will provide in-person coordination during FASD screening appointments, providing and collecting measures, escorting clients and caregivers to different providers during appointments, making photocopies of documents
  • Will access EmHUB database to download needed documents and upload reports

Requirements
Eligibility Requirements
  • Interested candidates must submit a completed application through VIP's candidate portal
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Qualifications
  • BA/BS or minimum
  • 2 year's experience working in a mental health setting
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Experience collaborating with DCFS or other supportive social entities
  • Knowledge using Microsoft, Excel, and EHRs
  • Good communicator
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English is required.
