POSITION SPECIFICS

We are searching for an entry level or junior Electrical or Computer Engineer to join the Multimodal Sensing and Systems Division of the All Domain Analytics and Signatures Office (A2SO) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State.A2SO's mission is to deliver unbiased expertise and government-owned solutions in sensing, analytics, visualization, and full-spectrum effects that tackle national security and defense challenges from seabed to space.

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You will:

  • Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and analysis of next generation sensor systems

  • Interact with other A2SO team members and engineers, as well as other units across the Lab, on sensor design and development

Required skills/experience areas include:

  • MATLAB and/or LABVIEW

  • Computer programming experience in C, C++, and/or Python

  • Basic electronic test equipment setup and operation

Preferred skills/experience areas include:

  • PCB layout in multi-layer boards using Altium for RF designs

  • Exposure to working within the Solidworks tool suite

  • Past success in producing technical documentation related to the design and building of complex systems

  • LINUX and Windows OS systems

  • GNU radio prototyping environment

  • Embedded systems to include FPGAs, microcontrollers, and similar entities

  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required

Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.
