Job description

Job Description:
Designs, develops, and supports instrumentation, control, and test automation systems used in manufacturing and laboratory environments. Develops LabVIEW applications, integrates hardware and software systems, and provides technical support for data acquisition, industrial communications, and automated testing platforms. Supports system reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain LabVIEW applications.
  • Support automated test systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition hardware.
  • Integrate software solutions with SQL databases, PLCs, and industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, instrumentation, and communication issues.
  • Develop user interfaces, automated reports, and data collection systems.
  • Support industrial communication protocols including Modbus, BACnet, MQTT, OPC UA and Ethernet/IP.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
  • Participate in equipment installations, commissioning, and process improvement projects.
  • Follow established development standards, best practices, and safety requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and experience in controls, automation, instrumentation, software development, or a related engineering field a plus.
Preferred:
  • LabView development experience
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC's, SQL databases and industrial networks
  • C#, C++, Python, .NET development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and automated testing systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and PLC systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment:
  • Work requires frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
  • Ability to sit comfortably for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability for occasional travel as the job may require visiting customers and project sites.
