Job Summary

The Junior Manufacturing Software Engineer will be responsible for developing andmaintaining software and reports specifically used in manufacturing environments. Thisrole focuses on maintaining, upgrading, and redeveloping existing applications that controland interact with customized fixtures or instruments. The ideal candidate should haveexperience and knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and be capable ofintegrating paperless workflows, automating data collection, and improving visualizationand quality control in the manufacturing process. The candidate should have a strongunderstanding of shop floor process applications. In this role, you will collaborate withcross-functional teams and management to design and develop custom manufacturingsoftware applications, using preferred languages such as VC++, C#, Java, and Python.

Additionally, your expertise will be applied in visualizing process metrics through reportsand live dashboards.

You will also spend time on the production floor, assisting withtroubleshooting software, workstations, and network-related issues.

  • Create and maintain software applications and databases that supportmanufacturing in a variety of languages VC++, C#, Java, Python, MySQL, Tableau
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance,and ongoing support of the MES system
  • Create documentation for software usage, maintenance, and other requirements
  • Workclosely with management, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams todesign and develop intuitive custom applications to reduce downtime, maintainregulatory compliance, and improve productivity
  • Create and execute advanced SQL queries to produce process metrics, reports, andlive dashboards
  • Liaison for manufacturing and Corporate IT for project implementation
Qualifications

Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Information Technology, or relevantdegree
  • Minimum 2 years of programming experience, preferably at least 1 year of programming experience in a manufacturingenvironment

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Experience with VS Code
  • Experience with VC++, C#, Python
  • Experience with RDBMS such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc
  • Experience with SAP and Tableau
  • Experience with development process tools such as Git, GitHub, GitLab and Jira

Additional information

Working Conditions

  • Work will primarily take place on the production floor (70%) but also in office orlaboratory environments
  • 85% of the time will be dedicated to supporting existing/legacy manufacturing software,with 15% focused on supporting new MES development. (Note: The time spent on new MESdevelopment will gradually increase as the new system phases out the legacy system)
  • Must be able to sit or stand at a workstation or work cell for the duration of a full workshift
  • Occasionally required to lift to 40 pounds

Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $80,000 - $95,000
