Job description

Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory and Tool Control Technician I provides entry-level support to GMRE’s production work center by receiving, identifying, storing, issuing, tracking, and safeguarding production material, modification-kit components, tools, and calibrated equipment. The employee performs routine assignments under the direction of the Production Manager or designated lead, follows established procedures and work instructions, maintains accurate records, and promptly reports discrepancies or unclear requirements.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive incoming material and tools; compare items to available purchase-order, packing-slip, transfer, or work-order information and verify part numbers, quantities, identification, and visible condition.
  • Route certificates, packing documents, and other required records to the appropriate function, and place material in the designated receiving, inspection, or hold area as directed.
  • Label, preserve, and store material in assigned locations while following requirements for traceability, shelf-life control, electrostatic-discharge protection, environmental protection, and foreign object damage prevention.
  • Enter receipts, issues, returns, transfers, and location changes accurately and promptly in GMRE COMS or other assigned inventory systems.
  • Pick, stage, and organize material for production work orders and modification kits using controlled bills of material, pick lists, and work instructions.
  • Verify kit part numbers and quantities, protect and label kit contents, and report shortages, overages, damage, or other discrepancies before the kit is released.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and physical inventory activities; document count results and report variances without making unauthorized inventory adjustments.
  • Issue and receive hand tools, tool kits, calibrated crimpers, gauges, test equipment, and other controlled production equipment using established check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Verify that identification and calibration-status labels are present and current before issuing controlled tools or equipment.
  • Segregate and report tools or equipment that are damaged, overdue for calibration, missing identification, or otherwise unsuitable for use; do not return them to service without authorization.
  • Maintain tool-control records, storage locations, shadow boards, tool kits, and calibration due-date information as assigned, and promptly report missing tools.
  • Conduct periodic internal tool calibration and verification using defined work processes and certified references. Coordinate shipping of tools for external calibration as required.
  • Support packaging, shipping, material movement, and general warehouse activities when directed, including use of approved handling equipment after training.
  • Maintain an orderly, secure, and safe stockroom and tool-control area and support daily housekeeping, access-control, and work-center priorities
