Job description

Job Summary/Overview

The Inventory Controller receives, stores, pulls, replenishes, and delivers parts, components, and raw materials to the manufacturing areas and ensures inventory accuracy, in accordance with company policies and procedures. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receives, stores, moves, and/or transfers parts, components, and raw materials to their proper storage bins at on-site and/or off-site warehouse locations including opening containers, loading/unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with lift equipment, prepares kits of materials and stacks or assembles into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Reviews work/shop orders or follow oral instructions to determine the appropriate materials to be moved. 
  • Pick, pull, and route the appropriate materials or components per work orders, customer orders, or by sales order line item and deliver to the designated work sites, shipping areas, other departments, or manufacturing areas including replenishing inventory hourly to manufacturing lines.
  • Process and complete all related and/or required computer transactions timely and accurate. 
  • Use a hand-held scanner and portable printer for bar-code transactions.
  • Inform and assist the appropriate materials department personnel of any nonconformance transactions or discrepancies.
  • Interact with suppliers and assist the materials department by overseeing consignment programs, as requested, or needed.
  • Operate lift equipment safely in accordance with work rules and procedures.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by performing bin sequencing, cycle counts, and move transactions.
  • Create, complete, and maintain any required paperwork and documents, etc including attaching identifying tags/labels to materials/products or marking information on containers.
  • Work overtime, as needed.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. 
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Provide organizational assistance and participate in annual physical inventory to include physical inventory-related tasks, bin sequencing, system count location accuracy, and overall inventory execution tasks.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of small hand and power tools, lift equipment, power industrial trucks, scales, ladders, pallet jacks, and carts. 
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job-related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
