About the Role:

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE2) to join the Customer Data Platform team within the Identity & Trust organization.

This team builds and operates the systems that manage customer data at scale. Our platform runs on AWS and supports high-throughput, high-availability services that are critical to Remitly's products and regulatory obligations.

As an SDE2, you will design and build high-quality backend services and APIs across a subset of the team's systems. You will operate independently in code construction, testing, deployment, and maintenance. You will own features end-to-end, handle challenging problems with clear constraints and trade-offs, and contribute to improving system quality, reliability, and performance.

You Will:

  • Design and implement modular, maintainable backend services and APIs.
  • Own features or functional areas from technical design through production support.
  • Contribute to design discussions and propose trade-offs for consideration.
  • Work with relational and non-relational databases to implement reliable, performant data access patterns.
  • Improve code quality, testing, deployment, logging, and monitoring practices.
  • Provide thoughtful code and design reviews.
  • Identify and mitigate obvious technical and delivery risks.
  • Partner with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Support onboarding of new engineers and contribute to a strong team culture.

You Have:

  • Experience with DynamoDB or other large-scale NoSQL data stores.
  • Experience working on distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant or platform-oriented service design.
  • Familiarity with observability and operational best practices.
  • Experience mentoring interns or new hires.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $124,000-155,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
