 Overall Purpose:  Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do:     

As the Human Resource Generalist, you will handle, administer, and support the Human Resource practices, policies, and programs for the Milford sites that will align the human capital with the organizational goals and objectives.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:  Your Accountabilities in the Role 

  1. On-site HR Program, Policy & Practice Administration/Support:      100% of the Job

  2. Handles, administers, and supports the coordination of HR practice, policies, and programs that align to Corporate HR initiatives and create a compliant, equitable environment. 

  3. Acts as the first point of contact at times for employee questions/obstacles, ensuring effective resolution, and that information is provided to the right management team member and Corporate HR as needed.

  4. Implements and coordinates effective recruiting and onboarding processes to onboard and retain top talent for the sites, while ensuring employee paperwork is complete and complaint. 

  5. Works with the Benefits and Compensation teams on all performance management programs that will measure and develop team members towards the goals of the business and towards their career goals.

  6. Acts as a "Credible Activist" to build relationships of trust and integrity within the teams to ensure engaging, fair and compliant employee relations practices are administered based on established policies and practices.

  7. Coordinates/assists with benefit open-enrollment and wellness activities for the sites to enhance employee engagement and the overall long-term productivity.

  8. Prepares, coordinates, and maintains employee changes, employee files, attendance data, disciplinary data, etc. in an accurate, compliant, and confidential way.

  9. Participate in return to work with restrictions process in conjunction with EHS Manager

The job criteria may include other duties, responsibilities and activities, which may change or be assigned at any item with or without notice.

Position Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Organizational Leadership, or HR; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  2. Experience: 1 year of experience within human resources, handling all areas of HR and Safety for a manufacturing site.

  3. Certification(s): Desire to become SHRM-CP or PHR preferred. 

  4. Functional Skills: Experienced with handling and supporting the HR activities and initiatives around Talent Management, Recruiting, Employee Relations, Safety, Benefits, and HR practice, policy and process compliance within a multi-location manufacturing environment preferred; great with project management, organization, planning, and prioritization, strong attention to details and follow-through, with an excellent ability to execute and lead new HR practices/policies or processes that can drive the business through people. Some experience and prior knowledge of OSHA guidelines and compliance area preferred.

  5. Technology Aptitude/Skills: Experienced with HRIS applications and ability to learn proprietary software required; Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required.

  6. Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written skillset; able to present and train team members on new HR policies.

  7. Leadership/Behaviors:  Demonstrates a high customer-service and support personality who has a strength in educating others towards best practices; forward thinking and resourceful to ensure processes are handled smoothly and effectively, ability to handle matters sensitively and discretely regarding sensitive/confidential information; is self-directed and can work well within an established set of guidelines.  High relational ability to provide credible and timely support and guidance while becoming a trusted resource and building effective partnerships within each of the locations; ability to listen and solve problems calmly, objectively, and effectively with solid reasoning to be able to make good decisions.   Advises manager of obstacles and makes recommendations on thoughtful options.

  8. Equipment Used:

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:

  • Ability to sit at desk for 5+ hours per day

  • Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen for majority of day 6-7 hours

  • Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 5+ hours per day

  • Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work, throughout the day

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

  • Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going 

  • Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, walk, stoop, crouch, and carry items frequently

  • Lifting up to 15 lbs. sporadically 

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

  • The employee is primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise. The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments. 

  • This position may face inclement weather conditions when traveling.
