Position Overview:

The Communications Products Specialist (Junior) is a full-time position supporting a federal public health program focused on outreach, education, and stakeholder communications. In this role, you will contribute to the development and production of healthcare-related promotional materials, digital assets, and strategic communications content that advances critical public healthย objectivesย for a federal agency client.ย ย You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of program managers, clinical subject matter experts, and government stakeholders to produce accessible, clinicallyย accurate, and audience-appropriate materials. Work products include educational toolkits, digital graphics, infographics, executive briefing support materials, and campaign content.ย ย Unlike traditional entry-level roles, this position offers immediate responsibility in a mission-critical federal health care environment. Candidates whoย demonstrateย strong performanceย and initiative will be considered for expanded responsibilities and long-term engagement.ย 

ย Please note: This position is contingent upon award (July/August)

Key Responsibilities:ย 

  • Develop healthcare-related promotional and educational materials including fact sheets, flyers, toolkits, and campaign content for both internal agency and external audiences.ย 

  • Draft audience-centered messaging in partnership with clinical and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, cultural responsiveness, and alignment with plain-language and health literacy guidelines.ย 

  • Create digital assets including graphics, infographics, and data visualizations for use in program reports, dashboards, presentations, and stakeholder communications.ย 

  • Design andย maintainย a production schedule for all communications materials; track deliverable timelines and coordinate internal reviews against the content calendar.ย 

  • Ensure all materials adhere to federal agency branding standards and Section 508 accessibility requirements; produce final deliverable files in both editable and PDF formats.ย 

  • Support the development and maintenance of a Strategic Communications and Engagement Plan and Content Calendar across multiple program workstreams.ย 

  • Coordinate communications across program offices to ensure consistent messaging onย objectives, progress, and outcomes.ย 

  • Assistย with preparation of executive briefing packages and monthly leadership progress reports for senior government stakeholders.ย 

  • Maintain version control over communication artifacts, branding asset libraries, and compliance documentationย in accordance withย federal information security and data handling requirements.ย 

  • Handle sensitive program information with discretionย and inย compliance with applicable federal agency data governance requirements.ย 

Working Conditions and Location:ย 

  • This is a fully remote position supporting a federal health care program. Contractor work is performed atย contractorย facility.ย 

  • Standard business hours with availability expected during core Eastern Time business hours.ย 

  • Hybrid coordination with government counterparts and cross-functional federal stakeholders; occasional travel may beย required.ย 

  • Fast-paced, mission-driven environment supporting high-visibility federal public health programs.ย 

  • May requireย handling ofย sensitive and controlled program dataย in accordance withย federalย agencyย and applicable regulatory requirements.ย 

Qualifications Required:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (completed or in progress) in Communications, Public Health, Marketing, Graphic Design, English, or a closely related field.ย 

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to handle sensitive government informationย in accordance withย applicable federal requirements.ย 

  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and professionally for diverse audiences with attention to health literacy and plain-language standards.ย 

  • Proficiencyย in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working in collaborative platforms such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.ย 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines simultaneously.ย 

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a hybrid remote team across multiple stakeholder groups.ย 

Preferred:ย 

  • Prior experience or coursework in public health communications, health literacy, or federal/military-focused outreach.ย 

  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards and federal communications or branding requirements.ย 

  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva for Enterprise) or data visualization platforms.ย 

  • Experience producing digital assets, infographics, or visual communications for healthcare, nonprofit, or government clients.ย 

  • Familiarity with content calendars, editorial workflows, or communications production schedules.ย 

  • Experience supporting or working within a federal health agency or VA/DoD environment.ย 

  • Knowledge of health promotion,ย awarenessย campaign development, or trauma-informed messaging principles.ย ย
