Job Summary:
Mercer Advisors is seeking a Senior Director, Tax Wealth Expansion, to lead one of the firm's highest-priority growth initiatives: converting tax-only clients into comprehensive wealth management clients.
This leader serves as the accountable business owner for Mercer Advisors' tax-to-wealth expansion strategy across existing and newly acquired tax practices. The role is responsible for building and scaling the playbooks, marketing programs, operating rhythms, partnerships, and opportunity management processes that drive growth.
As Mercer Advisors continues to expand its tax capabilities through the acquisition of tax practices, tax has become an increasingly important entry point to deeper client relationships. Clients are seeking integrated guidance that goes beyond tax preparation to encompass proactive planning across their full financial lives, creating a significant opportunity to deliver greater value, extend Mercer's breadth and depth of services, and ensure tax relationships serve as a natural pathway to broader fiduciary advice and long-term client value.
Success requires a unique blend of tax industry knowledge, strategic thinking, operational rigor, and executive influence. While Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs) are responsible for client-facing sales activities and closing business, this leader owns the overall effectiveness of the tax-to-wealth growth engine and revenue outcomes. The role partners closely with Client Development leadership to improve conversion rates and drive growth but does not directly manage sales teams or individual RVP pipelines.
Essential Job Functions for this role include:
Tax Wealth Expansion Strategy
  • Develop and execute Mercer Advisors' tax-to-wealth growth strategy.
  • Establish penetration, conversion, revenue, and AUM goals.
  • Build scalable playbooks and operating models across tax practices.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and accelerate growth.

Tax Firm Integration & Activation
  • Partner with Client Development, M&A, market leadership, and tax leaders to activate newly acquired tax firms.
  • Create onboarding and engagement plans that connect tax professionals to Mercer resources and capabilities.
  • Accelerate adoption of Mercer planning, advisory, and wealth management solutions within acquired firms.
  • Establish best practices that can be replicated across future acquisitions.

Opportunity Identification
  • Develop processes to identify high-potential opportunities within tax client populations.
  • Partner with Client Development leadership to establish tax-specific opportunity management, pipeline reporting, forecasting, and conversion disciplines that support Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs).
  • Partner closely with Client Development leadership, tax leaders, and RVPs to review opportunity flow, identify barriers to conversion, surface growth opportunities, and improve business outcomes.
  • Create frameworks for identifying client complexity, planning gaps, liquidity events, and other advisory opportunities.
  • Monitor pipeline health and revenue outcomes across tax-to-wealth initiatives, recommending actions and operational improvements to Client Development and market leaders.

Client Marketing & Nurture Programs
  • Own marketing strategies designed to expand tax-only client relationships.
  • Partner with Marketing, Wealth Solutions, and Tax leadership to develop content, campaigns, and client education programs.
  • Drive email, webinar, direct outreach, and nurture strategies that increase awareness of Mercer Advisors' comprehensive offering.
  • Build segmented client journeys and engagement programs that support long-term conversion goals.

Tax Advisor Enablement
  • Develop education programs, tools, and talking points that help tax professionals identify opportunities and confidently discuss Mercer capabilities.
  • Create and maintain referral, introduction, and client engagement frameworks.
  • Share best practices, success stories, and conversion insights across the organization.
  • Drive adoption of the tax-to-wealth playbook across tax offices and markets.

Performance Management & Executive Reporting
  • Own program governance, performance measurement, and executive reporting.
  • Track revenue, AUM, opportunity pipeline, conversion metrics, and engagement outcomes, partnering with Client Development leadership to identify trends and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Lead business reviews with senior leadership and recommend program improvements.
  • Drive accountability across stakeholders while continuously improving program effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in growth roles in wealth management, tax advisory, family office, accounting, or related professional services.
  • Deep expertise in growth strategy, marketing, client development, and cross-functional revenue expansion programs.
  • Demonstrated success leading tax-to-wealth, cross-sell, client expansion, referral, or integrated advisory programs.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to build processes, operating models, and scalable growth programs.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with experience managing pipelines, reporting, forecasting, and performance metrics.

The Senior Director will be accountable for:
  • Tax-to-wealth revenue and AUM growth.
  • Conversion rates of tax-only clients to wealth management clients.
  • Opportunity pipeline health and progression metrics.
  • Regional Vice President and tax professional adoption of tax-to-wealth programs and playbooks.
  • Integration and activation outcomes for newly acquired tax practices.
